Edward "Ted" Colin Keegan
June 12th, 1938 - June 8th, 2008
Keegan, Edward C. "Ted" 69, of St. Petersburg, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Bayfront Medical Center surrounded in prayer by his wife, 2 daughters, and brother-in-law, Wilbert Johnson. He was born in Pittsfield, MA to Colin A. Keegan and Alberta A. Hebert Keegan. He was an altar boy for St. Mary's Church, as well as a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Ted was a welder for General Electric and past Treasurer for the IUE CIO, local 255 Union. He was involved in Babe Ruth Baseball and an umpire in the minor league. Ted's family moved to Florida in 1981 where he made many friends. Along with his love for gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren, he was an avid sports fan for the Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and Tampa Bay Rays. Ted wore a hat of many colors with a true love for mankind. He was an asset to the community in the way he volunteered his services. He is survived by his wife, Irene, recently celebrating their 50th anniversary; children, Paula Keegan-Bock, Sharron Thayer Keegan, and Edward C. Keegan, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Kathleen Harrington; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Baycare Cancer Center, Attn: Gamma Knife, 701 6th St. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33701.
