Rogers, Ellwood G., "Woody" Woody was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 13, 1931 and was raised in Queens County New York City. He worked as a policeman for 22 years and retired as a Sergeant from the New York City Police department in 1978. His passion for fishing brought him to Florida where, for a short time, he owned and operated the "Garden State Motel" on St. Pete Beach and soon after owned and operated his own charter fishing boat called "The White Whale" on Madeira Beach. Later in life, "Woody", staying true to his passion for the water took a job with a local marine hardware distributor, Glen-Mar Marine. He will always be loved by his wife, Mary; sons, Bill Shaun, Tom Chris, Rick Patty and Ken Shirley. He is also survived by grandsons Nick Tracy, Tim, Tyler, Shaun, Brian and Matthew; granddaughters, Jessica, Elyse, Erika, Kaylee and Emily. A celebration of Woody's life will be held on his 77th birthday on July 13, 2008 at 1:00pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, Tyrone Chapel, 7820-38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL.
