Hildegarde Eutene Matison
January 8th, 1919 - July 2nd, 2008
Matison, Hildegarde Eutene 89, passed away peacefully at her home following a brief illness on July 2, 2008. She was born in St. Charles, Michigan and came to St. Petersburg as a young girl. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Philip, her mother Lena, her sister Margaret, and her brother LaVerne. Hildegarde will be remembered for her extensive support and membership in numerous charitable organizations in the St. Petersburg area, including ACH Auxiliary, SE Guide Dogs for the Blind, St. Petersburg Historical Museum, Friends of Strays, Museum of Fine Arts, Pinellas Park Art Society, Florida Orchestra, and numerous other worthy causes. She was involved in all phases of the fine arts and was herself a prolific portrait and landscape artist and was a devoted patron of the performing arts. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. She was a building contractor and designed and built her lovely home on Brevard Road NE. She will be remembered for her kind and caring spirit and deeply missed by her beloved friends, family, and neighbors. Visiting hours will be from 11 AM - 1 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 with services following at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N. Interment will follow service at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 49th St. N. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast - Woodside or Benedict Haven, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
