Simmons, Michael Lee 53, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, October 1, 2011. He came here in 1983 from Evansville, IN. He was a known in his community as a coach, mentor, and teacher, who was always willing to lend a helping hand and support anyone who needed it. He was preceded in death by his parents Carolyn Runau and Jackie Simmons. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Joan; his children Jasmine and Trent; brother David Simmons,1 sister in-law and 6 brother- in-laws including Brent Hoover (Sherry), James Russell (Karen) and Keith Russell; and step mother Patricia Simmons. There will be a GATHERING on Friday October 7, 2011 from 3-7pm with a service at 5pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made for his children's college fund.
