Hart L. Norwood

Norwood, Hart Lanneau, 78, of St. Petersburg was born April 3, 1930 in Winston-Salem, NC, and died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at Bayfront Medical Center. As a child, he lived in China, where his parents were missionaries. He served in the U.S. Navy and later graduated from North Carolina State University. In 1959 Hart moved to St. Petersburg, where he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and a life deacon. He was a consulting engineer and was a member of ASHRAE for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Audrey; two daughters, Annette Norwood, St. Petersburg, and Evelyn Michael Worley, Monticello, FL; two sisters, Betty East, Winston-Salem, and Louise Thomas, Southern Pines, NC; a brother, George Betty Norwood, Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Richard Lindley, Winter Haven, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thurs., Nov. 6 at Anderson-McQueen, Tyrone Chapel, 7820 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. Friends may visit with family 30 minutes prior. In lieu of flowers, contributions for missions may be made to First Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Blvd., 33702; The Salvador Dalí Museum, 1000 3rd St. S., St. Pete., 33701; or Lighthouse of the Big Bend, 1286 Cedar Center Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32301.
