Shireman, Richard T. 46, of St. Petersburg, died of injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident on January 9, 2009. Born in Plymouth, IN, he moved to St. Petersburg in 2005 from Marion, IN. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville HS 1981, Wabash College 1985, both in Crawfordsville, IN and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, OH 1999. He worked for the Crawfordsville Police Dept. from 1985 to 1995 and was a Lutheran Pastor from 1999 to 2005. He worked for Operation PAR as part of the Homeless Outreach Team for St. Petersburg, FL working in a career he truly enjoyed, where he was able to touch the lives of many. He was a family man and an avid reader, who enjoyed the blues, riding his motorcycle and being with friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Strickler; grandparents, George and Helen Towle, John and Glea Shireman and Pauline Shireman. Survivors include his wife, Kris; sons, George and Dietrich of St. Petersburg; parents, Norma and Bill Strickler, Crawfordsville, IN and Reg and Dorothy Shireman, Monticello, IN; in-laws, Don and Mary Alice Bickel, Crawfordsville, IN; brothers, Dave Shireman and Billy Strickler, Crawfordsville, IN, John Rebecca Shireman, Aurora, IL; sisters, Cheryl Doug Colliver, Martinsville, IN and Judy Strickler, Crawfordsville, IN; brothers-in-law, Jeff Barb Bickel and Mark Missie Bickel, Crawfordsville, IN and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 6:30pm at Pinellas Hope, 5726 126th Ave. N., Clearwater, FL 33760. A memorial service will be held in Crawfordsville, IN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made in honor of Richard Shireman to Catholic Charities, Diocese of St. Petersburg, 1213 16th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33705 to assist with the ongoing good works of Pinellas Hope.
