Lyons, Alfred Lewis 76, of St. Petersburg, died peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2009. Born in Newark, NJ, he came here in 1957. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Al was a retired Letter Carrier, having delivered mail in St. Petersburg for 34 years, and was a member of The National Association of Letter Carriers. Al was also a member of AA for over 20 years. He was Roman Catholic and a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. An avid reader and crossword puzzler, Al had a variety of interests including music, literature, history, and the arts. Always having a smile on his face and telling jokes, his congeniality was rewarded by the smiles of others. He was preceded in death by mother, Stena Troester. He is survived by his wife, Robin Lyons; 3 children, Alfred Karen Lyons, Jr., Paul Maureen Lyons, Teresa Michael Pate; 6 grandkids, Wesley, Tyler and Mikayla Pate; Ana, Gracie and Benjamin Lyons. There will be a visitation from 7- 9pm on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 MLK St. Street N., St. Petersburg. A funeral mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 27 at 9 am. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home - 727 822-2059
