William "Bill" Augustus Maranto
November 26th, 1927 - March 13th, 2009
Maranto, William "Bill" Augustus 81, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, March 13, 2009. Born in Baltimore, MD on Nov. 26, 1927, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1964. Bill was a graduate of Loyola College and retired from the State of Florida. He served in the United States Air Force and Navy and was an avid Scrabble, Pinochle, and Cribbage player. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Kuhlman Maranto, in 1953, his second wife, Barbara Hoch Maranto, in 2006; and his brother, Russell Maranto. He is survived by his five children, Claire Maranto Sigurdsson, Mark Maranto, De Sales Maranto, Andrea Maranto May, and Luke Maranto; brother, Philip Maranto; sisters, Cathy Fetzek and Donna Smith; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. A gathering will begin at 10:30 AM with a memorial service at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
