Arehart, George Landis 90, of Boca Grande, FL and formerly Shawnee Mission, KS, died Sunday, October 9, 2011. Born in Norborne, MO, he moved to Florida in 1968 from Shawnee Mission, KS. He was a Navy fighter pilot trainer in Pensacola, FL during WWII. During his 50 years of sobriety he established many chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous (where he was lovingly known as "Johnny") in Kansas and Florida. He was instrumental in starting Serenity House in Ft. Myers, FL. He also established Boca Grande real estate where he was as broker/partner for nearly 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Geneva Arehart, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by loving wife Ann, daughters Linda Catlett (Del), Kerry Gilbert (Don), and Barbara Sutton (Tony); grandchildren Laurie Cole, Christopher Catlett, Dana Catlett, Shane Gibson, Scott Gibson, Jerry Hartley; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. There will be a visitation at 10 am and a funeral service at 11am both at the funeral home. Donations may be made in his name to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., P. O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, Florida 32064.
