MC INTYRE, Thomas Michael (Mack the Cop), 78 of St. Petersburg died December 16, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice care Center. Born in Queens, NY, he came here from Tampa in 1957. He was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy, College Park, GA. After serving on active duty as a Paratrooper - Military Policeman with the 101st Airborne Division, he joined the St. Petersburg Police Department. He retired from the Department after 20 years of service as a Senior Accident Investigator, Motorcycle Officer, as well as the first Police Helicopter Pilot. He also worked for the Florida Division of Veteran's Affairs as a Service Officer; at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport as a police officer; and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department, retiring as a Bailiff Sergeant. After active duty in the Army he continued his military career in the Air Force Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve and retired from the Army Reserve attaining the rank of SFC (E-7). He was a member of the Enlisted Club at MacDill AFB; the Retired St. Petersburg Police Officers Assn.; Pinellas Lodge #43, Fraternal Order of Police; National 101st Airborne Division Association; Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, 101st Abn. Div. Assn.; the Over the Hill Gang and American Legion Post 400. He served as a Governor on the National Board, 101st Abn. Div. Assn., was a past president of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, 101st Abn Div. Assn., was a past president of FOP Lodge #4, St. Petersburg. An avid motorcyclist, he was a Life Member of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) and of the local Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of HOG. He was also a member of FL XVII Chapter of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club in Tampa. He is survived by his wife, Doris, a step-daughter, Rae Ann Osborne, a sister, Patricia Salmon, niece Elizabeth LaGrua and nephew, Michael LaGrua; and 3 step-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall, 550 Commerce Drive W. Largo, FL 33770. A Committal Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2015 at 10:45 A.M. at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
