Langsford, James R. 94, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Alice E. Baker- Langsford and James E. Langsford. James served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from the Indianapolis Police Department after 30 years of service. James is survived by children; Richard Langsford (Jennifer); James Langsford, Julie Scholl (Jeffery), Jennifer Nielsen, Kris Neilsen; stepchildren, Kathleen Fernald (Steve), Susan Balas (Donald), Paula Gwaltney (Mark), Joanne Mallon (Michael); 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Langsford, sister, Patricia Hayes, and daughters Donna Lyons and Sherrie Peak. A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Sunday, June 19th, at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704. The family will receive guests prior to the service from 3-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans.
