Shoemaker, Randall "Coach Shoe", 68, of St. Petersburg, passed away on February 20, 2012. He was born in Decatur, Indiana on August 10, 1943 to Merle and Marjorie (Ineichen) Shoemaker. Randy grew up in Jonesboro, IN and graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City, IN in 1961. He also attended and played basketball at Ball State University. He retired as plant manager at Kroger Dairy in Livonia, MI and was a past Jaycee president in Plymouth, MI. In 1996 he moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where his passion was coaching baseball. He coached at North East High and gave pitching lessons to countless Pinellas County baseball stars. Coach Shoe was the ever-present caretaker of the ball field at Bay Pointe and Clearwater Little League World Series for numerous years. He is survived by his wife Susan; three daughters, Angela Shoemaker, Leesburg, IN, Natalie (Ed) Legendre, St. Petersburg, FL, and Amanda (Joseph) Fretz, Leesburg, IN; 2 brothers, Reid Shoemaker, Indianapolis, IN, and Roger Shoemaker, Naples, FL; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Randy will be eulogized by his friends Brian Bryant, Ray Searage, and Bill Overton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancercare.org, or Suncoast Hospice Foundation. A Memorial Service will be held at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center on Friday Feb. 24, 2012 at 5:30, followed by a Celebration of Life.
