Eugene "Manfredi" R. Manfrey
April 25th, 1931 - April 10th, 2017
Manfrey, Eugene R. (Manfredi) age 85 of Saint Petersburg, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Bay Pines VA Health Care System, surrounded by his loving family. He was a generous and loving man with a ready smile for everyone. He loved to discuss politics and was devoted to his country and service for veterans. Born in Warren, PA, on April 25, 1931 to the late Frank Manfrey and the late Santa Gerardi Manfrey. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After his service, he worked for the 3 years as an Assistant of Veteran's Affairs for US Senator Hugo Scott, and had 30 years as a benefits councilor for the Veteran's Administration. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 65 years, including serving as State Commanders for Pennsylvania and Florida. He was also a member of several Veteran's Service Organizations including American Legion, DAV, Korean War Veterans Association, and a member in good standing with the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. Eugene is survived by his Wife of 28 years, Barbara A. Manfrey; children, Barbara Vogelstein (John), Kathleen Callahan (Kevin), Michael Manfrey (Kathy), Paul Manfrey (Jennifer), and Paula Dursbek; step-children, Paul Weber (Megan), John Weber (Denise), Claudia Estes (Carl J.), and David Weber (Leisel); and many loving grandchildren. Mr. Manfrey was preceded in death by his former spouse, Carmela Manfrey. He came from a large family and is survived by his brother Joe, his 2 sisters Liz and Rita, and his beloved twin, "Brother Rat" Geno. There will be a visitation from 5-8 pm on Thursday, April 13 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N in St. Petersburg. An additional visitation will be held from 6-9pm Friday, April 14 also at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 AM Monday, April 17 at the Cathedral of Saint Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg. Internment is scheduled for Monday at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
