DECKER, Margaret Marie (Margie), 63, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. She was born on June 13, 1953 in Lakeland, Florida to the late Frank C. Decker and Margaret Ewell Dickins. Margaret received a Bachelor's Degree from Wesleyan College and a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. After receiving her degree, she was a music teacher at Eddison Elementary School in Danville, Illinois for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Margaret is survived by her brother, Jimmy Decker (Doreen); her sisters, Norma Hanley (Tom) and Laura Jenkins (Don Meyers); her nephews, Chris (Sandra), Justin (Katie), Jamie (Cherish), Chase, Jeffrey (Chandra), Alan Michael, Drew, Reid; her nieces, Lizzy, Kendall, Caitlin, and Morgan. Margie was a selfless friend, a caring sister, and a loving aunt. Her innate compassion and kind spirit brightened every life she touched. She was a talented pianist and lover of music, never forgetting the words to her favorite songs. While she lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, she was actively involved in charity work for over twenty years, especially in Boley's Angels, the American Heart Association, and the SPCA. She had a deep affection for animals, especially her horse Tommy, her dogs Honey Girl and Juliet, and her cat Kuhi. With her big heart, witty sense of humor, and infectious laugh, she will be deeply missed by all. Margie's family sincerely appreciates the Magnolia Springs family and special friends Lynn and Laura for being so wonderful to her. A Celebration of Life will be held 3pm Sunday, June 11th, at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. A reception will follow at the family home; please RSVP to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society in memory of Margaret.
