Patricia Hope Archibald
October 7th, 1939 - December 31st, 2017
Patricia "Pat" Hope Archibald, 78, passed away December 31, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Pat was born October 7, 1939 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. Pat spent her early years in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York City before moving to Clearwater in 1947. Pat graduated from Clearwater High School, St. Petersburg Junior College, the University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and the University of South Florida with a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership. Pat also sat on the Board of St. Petersburg Arts Council, Board of Arts for Complete Education, and the Ethics Board for All Children's Hospital. Pat began her lifelong love of education in 1962 at 54th Avenue Elementary. She spent many years teaching 6th grade science at Tyrone Middle School. While teaching at Tyrone, she was named one of the Top Ten Educators in Pinellas County. Pat finished her 35 year career in education as Assistant Principal/Magnet Coordinator at her beloved Perkins Elementary School. Pat's heart and soul went into developing the arts program and building relationships with students and families at Perkins. Pat's love for the kids at her schools was only exceeded by her love of her family. The day after school got out each year Pat would load her kids in the car and head to the keys. Summer trips also included picking shark teeth on Venice Beach or just sitting in a beach chair on Pass-a-Grille beach and enjoying a book. Pat was also known to break out in song, show tunes, around the house. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Harold Roland Danford, her mother, Kathryn Virginia Danford, and her sister Jacqueline Lee King. She is survived by her brother Howard Richard Danford and her sister-in-law Susan Dean Howard both of Panama City Beach; her son Christopher Wilson of St. Petersburg, daughter Kathryn "Katie" Virginia Lowe and son-in-law Geoffrey Lowe of Nassau Bahamas, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hope Murdock and son-in-law Kevin Murdock of Tampa. Grandchildren Abigail Hope Lowe, Emily Danford Lowe, Danford Thomas Wilson, Nicholas Christopher Wilson, and Kate Elizabeth Murdock. Friends and family will gather from 3pm-4pm with a celebration of life service at 4:00 on Friday, January 5th at Anderson-McQueen 2201 Dr. MLK Street N, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
