Adele R Nagel
November 21st, 1915 - July 7th, 2012
96, Auntie Adele passed serenely away on Saturday, July 7th surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her beloved brother and sister, Henry Rosenbaum (Betty), of Illinois and Laurel Chadwick (Harry), of St. Pete Beach. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Al. Adele and Al had no children, but her life was rich in nieces and nephews: Judy Dolega, (John), Janie Mendez, both of Illinois; Jim Chadwick (Cecile) of St. Pete; Annie Fleeting (Bobby), of St. Pete Beach and Elaine Clanton (Jimmy) of Pembroke Pines, FL. From them she was blessed with 11 Great-Nieces and Nephews and 10 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews spread out from Florida to Illinois, Denver and Western Australia. Adele never had a bad word to say about anyone, unless you were a lazy ball player or blind umpire! She died with a driver's license in her wallet that was valid until her 100th birthday; a milestone she dearly hoped to achieve! Behind the wheel for more than 83 years, she proudly boasted of never having had an accident! She worked well into her 80s and even continued to do part-time work until she was 95 years young. She was an avid card player and never missed her Friday Poker Night with The Girls. At the age of 88, she caught the largest tarpon for a female at 162 pounds in the Sun Coast Tarpon Round Up, winning the Olga Bergman Trophy. She was a devoted baseball fan whose first love was the Chicago Cubs, as she grew up in a suburb of Chicago often going with her Daddy to Wrigley Field. None the less, she quickly adopted her new hometown team, The Rays. From the inaugural season, she regularly joined her sister, Laurel, to cheer them on from their front-row seats right next to the Rays dug-out. Now that Adele has received a promotion upstairs, we are all hopeful that The Rays will once again see the Play-Offs. Regrettably, even with Adele upstairs, we fear that the Cubs will remain beyond hope! Our family wishes to acknowledge the loving care that was provided by her private caregivers, Ceci, Dusty, Janice and Colleen; as well as Suncoast Hospice for making the services and facilities available that allowed Adele to die peacefully at home with her sister, Laurel, where she wanted to be. We request that on Adele's behalf, friends buy baseball tickets to support The Rays and enable them to remain forever in St. Petersburg. For those who already have tickets, donations to Suncoast Hospice are welcomed. Adele ,thank you for being there for all of us. We will never think of you without smiling; or drink a glass of red wine without remembering how you loved it until the very end! We have been so lucky to have enjoyed you to the lovely and respected age of 96. To say that you will be missed, simply does not capture the depth of our loss. Your steadfast love and friendship has provided us a compass for a life well led and lived. Thank you for so very much! The family wishes to invite guests to her funeral service on Thursday, July 12th at 2:00pm at Anderson McQueen 7820 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg and to the reception to follow at The Pass A Grille Yacht Club.
