Edwin Dean Latham Edwin D. Latham, died in the early evening on August 3, 2012, at the age of 84 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was most recently a long-term care resident of Carrington Place, St. Petersburg, but had lived in Clearwater, Florida since October 2011. Prior to this location, he lived for over 20 years in the Northern Virginia area, most recently in Leesburg, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Tokuko Katono Latham, of Clearwater, FL, who was by his side when he passed. He is also survived by his daughter, Linda Latham Lofstrom and son-in-law Laurence Kirsh of Reston, VA; his son Earl Kent (Ken) Latham and his future daughter-in-law, Irina Frolova Dare of Tarpon Springs, FL; and his daughter Patsy Latham Andrews Margraf and son-in-law Ronald Margraf of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kristina Lofstrom Pinnix and her husband Van Leonard Pinnix of Leesburg, VA; Johanna Luise Lofstrom of Arlington, VA; Jessica Elizabeth Andrews and John Aubrey Andrews, both of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by, and had special fondness for, his many nieces, nephews, and cousins around the country. He was born in Iva, South Carolina on May 21, 1928, the youngest of seven children. He is preceded in death by his parents Marion Augustus (Gus) and Annie Ruth (Brown) Latham, of Iva, SC; sister Ava Latham Fleming; brother Malcolm (Mack) G. Latham; brother Samuel (Irving) E. Latham; Truman A. Latham; Phyllis Latham Cain; and most recently by his brother, George H. Latham of Shelby, NC. Edwin Latham was career US Army, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major before retiring after 25 years to San Antonio, TX. While in the Army, he served in the Korean Conflict and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. There will be a private viewing at the Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, in St. Petersburg, FL prior to interment at Sarasota National Cemetery on Friday, August 10, 2012. Edwin is much loved by his family and will be remembered for his steadfastness, caring nature, and mischievousness.
