William Scott Correira
June 15th, 1969 - November 26th, 2012
Correira, William Scott, 43, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, November 26, 2012. He came here in 1976 from his native Dartmouth, MA. He graduated from Northeast High School, Class of 1988 and attended the Academy of Design Tampa. He was a graphic artist for 13 years with Mid-State Screen Graphics in Clearwater before opening his art gallery, Gallery Woo. Bill was influenced in his early years by his father, William Correira, Jr., a well known scrimshaw artist. Most of his artwork was focused on the marine life that is indigenous to this area. He was actively involved in his community in a variety of charitable organizations. He was featured in several magazines including Tampa Bay Magazine, duPont Registry, Sports Illustrated and Housetrends Tampa Bay as well as the Tampa Bay Times. He is survived by his mother, Gale A. Correira of St. Petersburg; his sister and brother-in-law, Carrie L. and Jonathan McCreedy of St. Petersburg; his maternal grandparents, Hilda and Wallace Sylvia of Dartmouth, MA; and two nephews, Micah McCreedy and William Shaw, both of St. Petersburg. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1st, at 1PM at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Boulevard, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in his name to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, 12902 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
