Philip Tyler Archilles

Archilles, Philip Tyler, 92, of St. Petersburg, Florida died on March 15, 2019 at Brookdale Broadway Cityview in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and attended public schools in that city and neighboring communities. His parents were George Lawrence Archilles of Boston, MA and Lucy Irene Tyler of Keene, NH. Mr. Archilles was a Merchant Marine Veteran of World War II and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA and received a B.A. degree in Sociology in 1957, After graduation, he began a career in Professional Fundraising and Public Relations, serving non-profit educational, health, cultural and social service organizations through the United States and Canada for 31 years. He retired to St. Petersburg, Florida in November 1989 and lived there year-round until his death. He was a committed Christian, devoted to bible study and personal evangelism. Mr. Archilles was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Elsie Archilles (nee Lorimer) of St. Petersburg, FL, in March 2017; two brothers, David Franklin Archilles of Boston, MA and Robert Lawrence Archilles of Punta Gorda, FL; two half-brothers, Harry Eli Tebbetts of East Boston, MA and George Alexander Archilles of Milton, MA and two half-sisters, Marguerite Emma Junkins (nee Tebbetts) of Brooksville, FL and Barbara Roseanne Simpson (nee Archilles) of Ashland, MA. He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Lee of Fort Worth, TX and Cynthia Jane of Arlington, TX; nine nieces, Janet Archilles of Milton, MA, Jean Fede of Holliston, MA, Katherine De Marco of Boston, MA, Joyce Culgin of Westowood, MA, Mary Lou Regan of West Roxbury, MA, Phyllis Pail of Brooksville, FL, Judith Goodhue of Evansville, WI, Susan Sprague of Bedford, NH and Patricia Grimes of East Boston, MA and three nephews, John David Doyle of Westwood, MA, Randy Archilles of Southwest Harbor, ME, and Barry Archilles of Bernard, ME. Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
