CRAWFORD, Alta "Winnie" went into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born on April 20, 1930, in Leesburg, Florida. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Gervin and Grace Pringle. She grew up in a loving Christian family where faith was at the heart of their home. Her family were active members at First Baptist Church of Leesburg. Winnie graduated from Leesburg High School in 1948. She continued her education at Mars Hill College in North Carolina, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Dr. Donald Crawford. She graduated with in Associate in Arts degree and continued her higher education at Florida State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor in Science in 1952. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and the Aerial High Wire team. On December 21, 1953, Don and Winnie were married at First Baptist in Leesburg. Winnie was a realtor for almost ten years and was a two-time member of the ERA Real Estate Million Dollar Sales Club. She and Don were private pilots and loved flying. Winnie was in the women's Grasshoppers Flying Club and came in second in the women's Powder Puff Derby air race, was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and enjoyed waterskiing, traveling, playing bridge, and most of all, spending time with her family. Winnie held a deep abiding love for the Lord and His Word and was a faithful and active member of Suncoast Cathedral since 1982. She was a greeter, a leader of ladies' bible studies, was involved in Life Ministries, and was a mighty prayer warrior. At 91, Winnie leaves behind her husband of 69 years, Dr. Donald Crawford; her four children, Donald Jr, Thomas, Cindy, and Bruce; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, at 10:30 am at Suncoast Cathedral, 2300 62nd Avenue N., St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association or Suncoast Cathedral Church.
