Patricia White Wellons

WELLONS, Patricia W., 90, of St. Petersburg, Florida, beloved mother and grandmother, died on June 27, 2022. She will be remembered as a person who knew and lived the Christian faith. She showed through her character and actions that Jesus’ teachings were important to her. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband of 57 years, John Wellons, and her parents, Ruby White and Rufus White. Pat was born in Lakeland, Florida and grew up in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa in 1951 and received her R.N. degree from Orange Memorial Hospital, Orlando, Florida in 1953. She worked in a variety of healthcare settings including at St. Joseph and Tampa General Hospitals in Tampa; Mound Park Hospital (now Bayfront Medical Center) in St. Petersburg; and Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Pat also served 19 years as a volunteer nurse with St. Pete Free Clinic Medical Services. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg serving as an elder and on various committees. Pat was inducted into the St. Petersburg Senior Fellowship Hall of Fame in 2009. She loved to read and was an active participant in two different book clubs during the 32 years she lived in St. Petersburg. Pat is survived by daughter, Laurie Valentine; son, Carter Wellons (Peggy); three grandchildren, Christopher Wellons (Kelsey), Jacqueline Wellons, and Andrew Valentine (Sarah); niece, Diane Boisvert (Joel); and nephews, David Wellons (Jane), Paul Wellons (Betty), Jody Wellons, and Jack Kirby (Kathy). The family thanks and recognizes the staff of Westminster Palms for their care of and friendship to Pat. A memorial service will be held August 6, 2022, 11 am, First Presbyterian Church, 701 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, Florida.
