Tecla B Christ

Christ, Tecla, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 104. Born in New York City in 1918 to immigrant parents, Tecla was the first in her family to graduate from Hunter College and receive a nursing degree from Bellevue School of Nursing. She served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant during World War II where she met and married her husband, then Lieutenant, John G Christ. Tecla was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Christ, her siblings, Olga Peters and Philip Bobrick, and her grandson, Randy Hall. She is survived by her daughters Carol Christ and Lynn Hall; her sons John (Jack) Christ and Ronald Christ; her grandchildren Jonathan and Elizabeth Sklute, Gregory Hall, Ian, Jason, and Brendan Christ, and Lauren Rubenstein; 8 great-grandchildren; and nephews, Richard and John Bobrick. Tecla was a devoted Christian, a student of the Bible, and a long-standing member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Locally, she took pleasure in supporting the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and Metropolitan Ministries. When asked, she always told people that there were 3 secrets to her longevity: good nutrition, good genes, and godliness!
