Katherine J West

Katherine Joyce West, also known as Kathy, passed away on June 28, 2023, at the age of 87 in Largo, FL. She was born on December 12, 1935, in McMinnville, TN, to the late Willard Ray and Lometa Wilson. She battled a long and painful illness and valiantly had undergone surgery and was attempting rehabilitation. Kathy was a kind, loving, and generous person. She did missionary work with the Reapers Fellowship in Rijnsaterwoude, Netherlands. Kathy also held various positions throughout her career, including Executive Secretary at Jones Business College, Wackenhut Corporation and Martin Marietta Corporation in Orlando, FL, Education Secretary at Pinellas Baptist Association in Largo, FL, Clerk/typist at St. Petersburg College, and sales associate at Zondervan Family Bookstore and Tampa Christian Supply in St. Petersburg, FL. Kathy was a proud graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando, FL. She furthered her education at Jones Business College in Orlando as well. Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Joy West Catain of Largo, FL, and her son, David Gregory (Greg) West of St. Petersburg, FL. Kathy is also survived by her brother, Charles Ray Wilson of Bradenton, FL, as well as her grandchildren: Christina Lima of Denver, CO, Tiffany Whipple of Palm Harbor, FL, Alyssa Catain of Largo, FL, and her great-grandchildren: Harloe Arrant, Dominic Whipple, Elijah Whipple, and Catalina Whipple. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Bowers West, her brother Robert Lynn Wilson, and her sister Mary Jeanette Wilson. Kathy found solace and strength in her faith. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, FL, where she worshipped and found support within her community. A memorial service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, August 5th, at 11:00 AM at Anderson McQueen Northeast Chapel located at 2201 Dr. MLK (9th) Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
