Betty Louise Bustruck
July 25th, 1933 - August 29th, 2016
Born July 25, 1933 in Velva, ND and passed away August 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Walter Bustruck; parents William and Jenny Schlichting; sister, Marlene Farrell. Betty is survived by daughter Lisa (Eric) Wolf; grandsons Joshua, Aaron and Kit; brothers James (Ruby) Schlichting; Harley (DeeDee) Schlichting; sister Lois (Fred) Madsen; brother-in-law George (Pat) Bustruck; sister-in-law Barbara (Richard) Lucich; nieces Laurie (Bud) Fliginger, Janet (Bruce) Bergquist. Michelle Farrell, Paula (Eric) Almquist, Maureen Farrell, Sarah (Pat) Thelen, Amy (Jeff) White, Kirsten (Derek) Ernst; Marge (Arny) Beardemphl, Janet Gorry, Lynda Lucich, Karen (Larry) Norlin, Sandy (Mark) Miller, and Dana Burke; and nephews Mike (Belinda) Schlichting, Paul (Lenore) Schlichting, David (Lisa) Schlichting, Steve (Kelly) Well, and her beloved dog, Sadie. Betty was raised in Garrison, ND; graduated from Garrison High School in 1951; attend school in MN; then relocated to Seattle. Betty met Walter on a blind date, were married June 2nd, 1956. They moved to south end Tacoma and lived there for 23 years. Betty worked at Ward-Smith until Lisa was born. She became a stay-at-home mom/wife;recess duty at Park Avenue elementary, helped out in Lisas Blue Bird & Camp Fire Girls group, a Sunday school teacher at Grace Lutheran Church. Betty and Walt moved to Fife Heights in 1986, where she was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. They moved to Lakewood WA in 2012, where she rejoined Grace Lutheran Church. Betty was known for her new recipes and would even invite company over just to try the recipe out. She did A LOT of ceramics over the years many of us still have her handiwork. Betty liked to sew, puts around in the garden. She loved a good sale. Betty enjoyed going out to lunch with the girls or the family. Family and faith were her everything..of course, Sadie baby, too. The family would like to thank Pastor James Matthews, and his wife BJ; and the Staff at Tacoma General ICU team 1 for all their care and support. Memorial service will be Thursday, September 22, 10:00 am, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 140 E. 56th St. Tacoma Wa; reception will be held at Holy Cross Church Hall 5510 N 44th St. Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church PO Box 9292, Tacoma, WA 98490.
