Darlene Chantry, age 81, passed peacefully July 20 in Graham, WA. She was born April 6,1927 to Francis 'Pat' Wisely and Ella M. (Ferris) Wisely of Osceola, NE. A graduate of Osceola High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University she married her high school sweetheart James A. Chantry of Osceola in August of 1949. Throughout her life she lived in New York, Illinois, and Ohio. She returned to Nebraska in 1968 and resided in Fremont. Darlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked for the public school system as a grade school librarian at Grant and Milliken Park schools. In 2002 she moved to Washington State to be close to two of her children. Survivors include her children James A. (Polly) of Cartersville, GA , Richard of Minneapolis,MN ,Margaret Anne(Michael) of Eatonville, WA, Alfred Lawrence of Colorado Springs, CO and Gerald of Birch Bay, WA ; four grandchildren Jacqueline and Michael of Cartersville, GA, Nicholette (Michael) of Lincoln,NE and Christopher of Minneapolis, MN; four great grandchildren Chelsea and Connor of Cartersville, GA; Ava Grace and Jack Ferris of Lincoln, NE. The Chantry family expresses their sincere heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Rainier Oncology, Kym's Cottage, and Franciscan Hospice for their attentive and loving care. All who knew and loved her will miss her one-of-a-kind laugh, the light in her eyes at the sight of a child, and her upbeat attitude through all her life challenges and adventures. She has always been and will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Private services will be held by the family. Donations may be made in memory of Darlene to the American Cancer Society.
