Mark Allen Iverson Mark Allen Iverson was born in Seattle, Washington, on August 15, 1962. He is survived by his wife, Angela; son, Cole; mother, Judy (Dwight) Caron; father, Gary (Jodi) Iverson; brothers, Todd, Troy (Lisa), Mike, and Bob; sisters, Jani (Mick), Rebecca (Gordon), and Erin (Jason); father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Marilyn Olson; brothers-in-law, Chad (Mie), Tyler (Heidi); nephews, Kyle, Max, James, and Lucas; nieces, Laura, Kate, Carrie, Maggie, and Kimi; grandmothers, Inga Serr and Doris Iverson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Joan Okerlund; and grandfather, George Serr. Mark grew up in the Johnson Point area in Olympia. He attended South Bay Elementary, Chinook Middle School, and North Thurston High School. Mark worked for more than 20 years at Bayview Building Materials in Olympia. He started working in the warehouse and later worked inside in sales, where he excelled in retail sales, surpassing previous sales records. Mark considered his co-workers his second family. Mark loved to garden. He grew beautiful roses and enjoyed building structures for his garden. He loved just being with his family and with his friends. His favorite music was Fleetwood Mac. Mark was the best dad, husband, and friend. He was thankful for all that life had given to him. His love for Angela and for Cole was unsurpassed. Mark and Angela were married for more than 19 years. They were married at Angela’s childhood home, in the woods by the creek. Mark was so proud of his son, Cole. They always had so much fun together, especially when they were teasing Angela and laughing hysterically. Mark was diagnosed less than two years ago with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). His illness advanced late last year when it was discovered that his stem cell transplant had failed, causing him to have Leukemia. He spent his second Christmas away from home as he battled this disease. He never complained; not ever. He always had a smile on his face and hope in his heart. He was a brave warrior who taught us all about courage, grace, and strength. A special thanks to Dr. Ye and the staff at Vista Oncology, to the nurses on the third floor at St. Peter, and to Nate and Chris for the kindness they gave to Mark and his family. In addition, thanks go out to his sister, Jani; his mother, Judy; his brother, Todd; his father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Marilyn; friends, Jeff Wellander and Craig Long; the community of McCleary; the Bayview Building crew; and everyone who supported and prayed for Mark these last two years.
