November 21st, 1909 - October 10th, 2006
. Vera Leona Keller Vera Leona Keller, 96, former resident of Stevenson, died of natural causes on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 in Olympia, Washington. She was born November 21, 1909 to Lee John and Bessie (Fields) Meaghers in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma. She was raised and attended schools in Blue Jacket and Venita, Oklahoma. On March 12, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Vera married Glenn Keller. He died in 1976. She and her husband settled in Stevenson, Washington where they owned and operated Keller Electric. While Glenn was in the field Vera ran the shop. With extra time on her hands she took an interest in ceramics. She began by teaching herself and later added a ceramic shop to their business. Vera enjoyed teaching ceramics to others in the community and entered her own work in State ceramic shows where she won many awards and ribbons. She was a member of the Oregon Ceramic Society. Vera had a keen interest in nutrition. She never used aluminum cooking utensils. She maintained information about various ailments people could get and shared the data with others. Vera retired at the age of 85. She moved to Tacoma in 1995 and then to Olympia in 1997. When she was 94, Vera went through surgery to have a pacemaker implanted. The surgery was successful and the doctors were amazed at her strength and recovery. Vera is survived by her son, Frank G.
