Joan Laros Mitchell, 91, died on Friday, August 16, 2013. Joan was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She received her bachelor's degree from Parsons The New School of Design in New York City. She was an accomplished artist whose works have been shown in several galleries in New York. Joan also managed the Woodmere Museum Gift Shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for many years. Joan is survived by her five children: Stephanie (Lawrence Opert) Mitchell, Mickey (Karen) Mitchell, Marcus (Suze) Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, and Lisa (Chris) Kersting; her grandchildren, Derek Opert, Charlie Mitchell, Sadie Wheeler, Spenser Laros Mitchell and Hunter Mitchell, Kate and Sarah Kersting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Mitchell. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
