Ian McIntosh
February 25th, 1972 - November 21st, 2010
Ian Oliver McIntosh, 38, passed away November 21, 2010 in Tukwila, Washington. He was an 11-year resident of Seattle. Born February 25, 1972 in Dayton, Ohio to Roger McIntosh and Leslie Sickler, Ian lived in Yelm from 1973 to 1999. He graduated from Yelm High School in 1990; while in high school he attended New Market Vocational Skills Center, specializing in computers. He went on to earn two Associate Degrees in Electronics Technology and Computer Technology from South Puget Sound Community College and Eastern Washington University. He served in the U.S. Navy as a fire control tech for a year and a half, training at Great Lakes in Chicago. Professionally, Ian worked for Boeing for seven years, and was the technical liaison between Boeing and the FAA. He was proud to be an engineering tech support for the Boeing 777. His hobbies included Fiat X-19 cars, creative writing, and cartooning. At age 10, he had a cartoon strip published weekly in the Nisqually Valley News. People who knew Ian described him as very animated, super intelligent, sensitive, creative and artistic. He had a great sense of humor and a non-violent, peaceful nature. He also was a very caring and nurturing person. Ian is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Rose Sonenthal; mother Leslie Sickler, grandparents James and Betty Cash of Green Valley, Arizona; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Roger McIntosh, stepfather Bill Sickler, and grandparents Arnold and Marjorie McIntosh. Memorial donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research (his father died of the disease) or Thurston County Animal Services (where his mom volunteers). The world lost a truly gifted person. He was and will always be loved and sorely missed, but forever in our hearts. You may leave memories and condolences for the family by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
