Jacqueline Berdine Thompson (Quinn) Jackie was born in Seattle on October 23 1948 to Bessie and Stanley Quinn. In their large family, she was the second of 5 children. She was given the joy of dance and music that stayed in her heart into adulthood. She is survived by her brothers Scott, Stan, Mark, her sister Laura and aunt Talitha. She was always known for her gentle ways and physical beauty. Her dimples, warm smile, her eyes and long lashes. But one thing that rang true, she was always most beautiful with the ones she loved close by. Those words were most true when she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart in her home town of Port Orchard, WA. Bill Thompson, whom she later married on June 16 1968. On July 18th 1969 she and her husband were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. Her spiritual hope, once having learned the Bible, caused her to devote her life to spreading the good news of the kingdom to anyone who would would listen. As time passed she matured further, looking forward she wanted to take on a new path where there was a need. Knowing her husband's ability to speak Spanish she urged him to use that skill in continuing to teach the Bible to others, she took on the challenge of learning Spanish herself and for the last 15 years they have been part of the Jehovah's Witnesses Spanish congregations locally. She was a constant in her congregations, not only planting seeds of hope but also watering those feeling weak. Bill and Jackie started their family in 1973 when their first daughter Leah was born and then completed the dinner table in 1977 with the birth of their second daughter Joanna. The girls later gave them 5 grandchildren. Austin, Cierra, Brody, Hannah and Sean. Jackie often carried their photos and would tell countless stories of her adventures with them. She was so proud to be their grandmother. For the last decade she worked at Country Meadows in the therapy pool, teaching Spanish lessons, helping in the kitchen, as a CNA, hosting social events and spreading smiles wherever she went. She worked hard over the years to fill in all the blanks as she adapted and worked thoughout the Northwoods facility. Jackie was a treasure to many. On July 4th she lost her long battle with cancer. In those preceding weeks she was never alone, her family and loved ones spending those weeks personally enjoying their own private moments with her, sharing thoughts and memories. And in those final moments she was truly at her most beautiful, not just for her physical gifts... but the gifts of her heart. Like a beautiful paper fan, so her life unfolded. One fold was her humility and gentle guidance, the next was her vast knowledge and gifts of teaching. Folding in again, we see her kind and sweet heart showing tenderness and love to all those in need, the next fold is showing strength as she fought cancer impressing the doctors with strength rarely seen. As we move to the next portion we see a devoted mother staying home with her children, the next fold showing her amazing work ethic once they were grown up being nicknamed "Jackie of all trades". The next we see her putting her husband and children first, only to look to the next fold, proving in fact her faith in God's promises were first. In and out her story goes with an accordion of extremes spreading out, Each more beautiful than the last. Showing an intricate and beautiful portrait of an amazing woman. Jackie's services will be held on July 19th at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1901 SE Bielmeier Rd. Port Orchard WA.
