Lawrence "Ike" A Larson
December 30th, 1953 - November 2nd, 2015
In the early morning hours of November 2nd, 2015 Larry passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA. Larry was born in Pensacola, Florida at the Naval Air Station on December 30th, 1953, he was the first son of Joanne Marie and Lawrence A. Larson, Sr. Larry served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy as an anti-submarine Warfare Operator (ASW). After leaving the Navy, Larry earned a Bachelor's Degree at Oregon College of Education. Larry worked as an Insurance Adjuster and later as a Public Adjuster working hard and passionately to make sure his clients received fair and adequate insurance settlements to cover their losses. A walking contradiction, Larry enjoyed fine automobiles, food, wine and guns, however when it came to fashion he did not take cues from anyone. Larry was most often seen wearing cargo shorts, short sleeve shirt and sandals even in the cold winter months. His belief was that a person should be judged by their competence and compassion rather than their wardrobe. Larry's interests included hunting, fishing, and boating. He was active in the Boy Scouts reaching the rank of Eagle himself as a young man and as an adult leader with his sons. Spending time on the "Raven", his 70's wooden Trawler on the Puget Sound with his wife, sons and grandchildren were one of his favorite pastimes. To honor Ike's wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Puget Sound. Lary is survived by his loving wife Joyce, his two sons great sons Mike and Greg, and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his Father Lawrence A. Larson Sr. and brother Eric Larson. Instead of flowers, Larry (Ike) would have hoped that you would do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone as he was often found doing. A Celebration of Life service will be on Sunday, November 8th from 11am to 2pm at The Caddy Shack located at the Fort Lewis Golf Course. Exit #116 off I-5 in Dupont, WA. Please join us, casual attire is welcome.
