Dennis John Schommer

Dennis J. Schommer was born in Chicago, Illinois May 17,1946 and died June 11,2006 in Tacoma Washington after a long struggle with brain cancer. Please click on the link below to view the video tribute: http://videos.lifetributes.com/?id=3898 He is survived by his mother Kathryn, sister Donna, aunts Mary Messner of Tucson Arizona, Donna Walsh of Seattle Washington, Chuck Ohms of Creve Coeur Mo, many cousins and friends. As an alumnus of St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana he completed his Bachelor of Arts, then furthered his education at Northwestern University, where he earned his Master’s degree in education. A dedicated teacher for 35 years, he taught throughout Illinois, California, Texas and Washington. During his teaching career, he coached many team sports and was affectionately known to his players as "Coach." Although not married, he spent many happy hours with his cousins children, going to ball games, museums and camping. Den loved baseball, especially the Chicago White Sox. His joy was finally fulfilled when in 2005, his dream team won the World Series. To know Denny was to simply page through his personal phone book.
