Arne Paul Stangeland

Arne Paul Stangeland, age 73, went home to be with his Lord surrounded by family on November 30, 2015 in Auburn, Washington. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his daughter Lorrie Winchell, his son and daughter-in-law Dan & Melissa Stangeland, his daughter and son-in-law Tracy & Sherry Berry, His grandchildren, Anthony Berry (21), Zachary Berry (17), Ashley Stangeland (16), Thor Winchell (15), Miriam Stangeland (14), Shelby Berry (12), Joshua Stangeland (11), and Elijah Stangeland (8). Other family includes Pauls two sisters and their husbands, Dallas & Carol Grieger&Elvern& Shirley Gunderson along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Arne Stangeland, his mother Marion Stangeland, his sister Mary Ann Stangeland and his nephew David Gunderson. Paul was born in Fargo, North Dakota on March 20, 1942. He graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 1961. He studied agriculture briefly at NDSU. On May 13, 1966, he married Shirley Quamen at Osterdalen Church in Argusville, ND. They lived on the family farm until October 1976 when they moved to Warden, WA where they owned and operated a dairy farm. In 1982 they sold the farm and moved to Stanwood, WA where he worked as a dairy manager for SBL Farms. In 2001 they moved to Holland, Michigan where he worked as a Reproduction Manager. In 2006 he retired and they moved to Puyallup WA and then to Milton WA in 2014. Paul was best known for his quiet yet mischievous nature and his strong faith in God. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2pm at Lighthouse Christian Center, 3409 23rd St SW, Puyallup WA 98373. His remains will be laid to rest in Osterdalen Cemetery at a later date.
