Marvin Leaphart, age 77, of Kent, Washington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born July 18, 1939 in Waycross, Georgia. Marvin retired from the U.S. Marine Corps with 21 years of service and two tours in Vietnam. He earned several medals during his career, including the Meritorious Mast, Letter of Appreciation, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and Pistol Expert Badge. After retiring from military service, he enjoyed world travel, fishing, and attending sports activities such as baseball and basketball games. As a youth in Connecticut, he was an avid baseball and basketball player. Marvin is survived by his daughter, Sonya Redd, and son, Tony Leaphart of San Diego, California; brothers, Harry (Arie) Leaphart of Monroe, Connecticut, and William Leaphart of Stratford, Connecticut; sister, Agerie Richardson of Stratford, Connecticut. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Alberta Leaphart, and father, Harry Leaphart Sr. NOTE: The black-and-white photos above were taken April 4, 1966 in Chu Lai, Vietnam Please leave memories of Marvin or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
