Lucretia Leadel Johnson
December 8th, 1961 - June 9th, 2011
Lucretia “Lea “ was the youngest of four children born to the union of Joseph Johnson and Ramona Smith. Lea was born in Minot, ND on December 8, 1961. Joe’s Air Force career led the family to several Posts and as a result Lea grew up in Cheyenne, WY; Osaka, Japan; Wichita, KS; and returning “home” to Seattle in the mid ‘70s. Lea graduated from Franklin High School. After high school, Lea worked in janitorial service and as a home health aide. It was through this latter work that she met and bonded with Thomas Tennard. To this union her three children were born: Josette Wilma Ruth in 1991 and twins, Kendrick Antwan and Khadijah Ajenee in 1994. Lea was gifted with a beautiful voice. She used that gift singing with the Total Experience Gospel Choir and the FAME Choir of First A.M.E., Seattle. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Lea, knew that she had a very generous spirit. As an organ donor she has given two people the gift of sight. In the past few years of Lea’s life her health was seriously compromised . On May 19th following successful hernia surgery Lea suffered cardiac arrest perpetuating a deep coma from which she never recovered. Lucretia went home peacefully on June 9, 2011. Preceded in death by her father Joseph Johnson, Lucretia leaves to cherish her memory her children Josette, Khadijah, and Kendrick; her mother Ramona Johnson of San Diego, CA; her stepmother Wilma Harris Johnson; her sister Adrienne Denise Gentry; her brothers Jonathan Johnson of San Diego, CA and Jeffery Johnson of Cedar Hills, TX; her aunt Shirley M. Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center (253)566-1008
