Thomas Garrett Barry

Thomas was born in Spokane, WA on May 31, 1937 to Thomas and Helen Barry. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family Jan. 20, 2015 in Tacoma,WA. Tom leaves behind his beloved wife Ruth, (Ruthie) of 42 years and their 4 children. Sherri Anderson (Jon), Michael Barry, Jennifer Barry(Scott Armstrong), Kathleen Olivas(Ron) and 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Eric, Austin and Autumn Anderson Coven Evans-Olivas, Bella and Adrien Armstrong. He is also survived by sister Marianne Gough and brother John Barry and many nieces and nephews and their families. Thomas graduated from Bellermine in 1955. He served in the US Navy after graduation and then went to Knapp business college. He retired from Boeing Aerospace in 2000 after 35 years and was well respected as a procurement agent. As a sports enthusiast he joined the South Sound Seahawkers in 1977 and has followed them ever since. He has also watched most of the Mariners games since the team was formed. He attended many of the Tacoma Rainiers games. He enjoyed going to the Jazz festivals and dancing. He used to act at Tacoma Little Theater and had season tickets to "The Musical Playhouse". He especially had fun on family game nights and all the family gatherings. We will celebrate his life. Military service will be held at 11 am, Thursday Jan. 29 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wa.
