Mary Catherine (Farrelly) DeVoe (August 21, 1925 – April 4, 2015) Mary Catherine DeVoe, aged 89, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2015 at Judson Park Nursing Facility in Des Moines, WA surrounded by her family. She was born in Dennison, Iowa and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska graduating from St. Mary’s High School. She met and married her loving husband, Robert DeVoe, who preceded her in death in 1982. They had married in Omaha and lived for several years in Spokane before moving to Seattle. They eventually settled in Des Moines, WA where they found a home where they could enjoy watching the sunsets on Puget Sound. She is survived by her five children, Jeanette, Patricia, Mary Catherine, David and Cecilia as well as her sister Patricia Biga of Papillion, Nebraska. Her other sisters who preceded her in death were Nancy Dycus and Betty Ann Fitch. Mary had numerous nieces and nephews that she lovingly referred to as her kids. Mary loved to travel and had made two trips to Tahiti by herself. She loved to cook, garden and socialize. She especially enjoyed going to the ocean and took numerous trips to the Washington Coast. She had lived in Palm Springs, Califonia for a time thoroughly enjoying the sunshine. When her kids were growing up she would pack them onto the train from Seattle to Spokane and they would all spend the summers together at a cabin at Hayden Lake, Idaho. She will be greatly missed for her laughter, generous heart and loving hugs. A memorial will be held in August in her honor to celebrate her 90th birthday which had been her goal.
