Wanda Elizabeth Salvesen

Wanda Elizabeth Robinson was born on Vashon Island, March 10th, 1923, to her parents Ozella (Lamoreaux) Robinson and Arthur Robinson. Wanda passed on April 16th, 2015 at the age of 92. She was married to Alfred A. "Bud" Salvesen in 1949. Bud passed away at home Dec. 1992. Wanda was also preceded in death by her mother Ozella, a school teacher, and sisters margery Callinsky and Glenna Rudolph. Wanda's father Arthur, who became a commercial fisherman, was lost at sea while fishing for tuna near Astoria, in a summer gale in 1945. She is survived by her sister Verna Harkins and many loving nieces and nephews. Wanda spent most of her time in her early years in Skagway, Alaska, where the Robinson family helped to run a dairy farm. The family also spent a couple of winters in Gustavus, Alaska. Ozella and her daughters moved to Vashon Island to live full time with Ozella's brother Vernon in 1937. Wanda was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Vashon High School in 1940. The Robinson girls moved to Tacoma as they graduated from high school, looking for job opportunities. Wanda Found work as an accountant, a skill she found useful when Bud started his construction company. She was ready and able to keep the books. Wanda and Bud loved taking road trips while following the unlimited hydroplanes and rockhounding. She also loved gardening, sewing, and keeping the house. Wanda will be remembered by all who knew her as a very hard working, intelligent and loving woman. Wanda's request is to please make contributions to the Salvation Army. Funeral Services will be held on April 24, 2015 at 12pm followed with reception at Edwards Memorial, 11020 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA. Viewing will be held at 11:00am.
