James Leroy Lutz
April 21st, 1942 - February 18th, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of James Leroy Lutz announces his passing on Sunday, February 18, 2018, after a battle with cancer. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Nancy; his children, Brent (Joan) and Mandie; his grandsons, Reid and Justin; sister, Linda (Guy) Gooley; brother, Dennis (Verna); nieces and nephews; and countless family and friends. Jim was proceeded in death by his father, Art; mother, Edna; and nephew, Scott Gooley. Jim was born in Hebron, North Dakota, on April 21, 1942, and raised in Missoula, Montana. He graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation for 31 years. Jim was proud of his accomplishments, which include an I-90 Bridge near Thorp, Washington, and the I-182 Lee-Volpentest Bridge over the Columbia River in the Tri-Cities. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Nancy, family, and lifelong friends over the years. Jim was an avid sports fan, skier, and lifelong golfer. Jim refereed football for 20+ years and was a firm believer in team sports because of the lifelong lessons it promotes for kids. His true passion was being the biggest fan of his son, daughter, and two grandsons, attending countless games over the years. In the end, he ensured that his family knew how proud he was and how much he loved each of them. Please leave memories of Jim or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
