Richard A. Horning (Richie), 52, passed away following a long, courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 11th. Richie was born on December 12, 1959 to Imogene Terry and Richard H. Horning in Fort Lewis, WA. Richie graduated from Wilson High School (Tacoma) in June, 1978. He worked many years at Eagle Paper Box (Now known as Freedom River Outreach). He also worked in construction for many years until he was diagnosed with cancer. Even with his diagnosed, Richie continued to work as much as possible. Richie loved playing pool and darts. He truly enjoyed the competition! If anyone asked Richie to shoot pool or play darts, he would be the first to throw down the quarters. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Imogene T. Horning, and son, Alan Arnold Horning. Richard is survived by his companion of many years, Sherry Romaine. Survivors also included his father and stepmother, Richard H. and Vicki Horning. Brothers, Ronald Terry (Terry) of Discovery Bay, CA., Jeffrey (Kerstin). Sisters Kimberly Jantz (Randy), Julie Horning of Big Timber, MT., Maria Benger (Danny), Samantha Garcia (Greg Jackson), Angel Garcia (Robert Cook). Children: Jennifer (David Tresner), Jessica, Drew, Sarah, Melissa, Johnny, Amy, and David. He was a proud grandpa of 14 grandchildren and a loving uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, 3 great nieces and 4 great nephews. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at Freedom River Outreach, 106 South 28th Street, Tacoma, on August 17th @ 6:30pm. Immediately following the service there will be a potluck at Uncle Sam’s Bar and Grill, 16003 Pacific, Spanaway, 253-507-7808. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the numerous friends and family members for their love and support given during this difficult time.
