August 26th, 1962 - January 12th, 2016
Gretchen Grace Taylor Daniels Gretchen Grace Daniels passed away at her home in Roy, WA. On January 12th, 2016 Gretchen Grace Taylor was born on August 26th, 1962 in La Puente, CA. to Arnold Taylor and Sandra Stornes. Gretchen was the youngest of 3 children, Suzanne Taylor Grass and Ronald Taylor are her siblings. Gretchen lived in San Gabriel, California during her childhood and graduated from San Gabriel High School in 1980. Her Dad Arnold (Johnny) passed away when Gretchen was a young teen. Gretchen’s Mother did a great job raising her children on her own. Following her graduation Gretchen married Andy Doucette and moved to Phoenix, AZ. The marriage ended in divorce in 1982. On July 7th, 1982 Gretchen met Duane Daniels, SSGT. USAF. From Seattle, Wa. That was the luckiest day of his life and within a couple weeks he knew that he wanted to marry her. Gretchen and Duane were married on February 14th, 1983. Gretchen and Duane were blessed with 2 healthy children Jessica N. Daniels, December 29th, 1985, and Erik L. Daniels January 2nd, 1987. Gretchen and Duane had 2 other children who died due to premature birth Duane Jr., April 23rd 1983 and Melissa, March 31st’1984. Gretchen was a caring and professional Hospital Assistant at the UWMC for 10 years as well as a Lab Technician at the Doctors Clinic in Silverdale, Wa for 6 years. Gretchen would put on a “happy face” during her tough times breathing and while she was in constant pain. She wanted to enjoy a normal life. She liked to go to the casino, play bingo, tan and to find the best shopping deal that she could. Her greatest enjoyment was her Kittens (Jessica and Erik) and the GrandKittens: Hannah Sutton 9, Owen Sutton (baby), Arieana Daniels 10, Hunter Daniels, 6, and Emmy Lou Daniels, 3. Gretchen enjoyed being the Grandma that she never had. She told Duane that she learned to be a Grandma from Grandma Sweere. She enjoyed doing things with her grandchildren with a hope that they would remember her. In June 2015 Gretchen and Duane went on a cruise to Alaska and had a great time. Upon their return from the cruise Jessica advised them that they will be Grandparents again. Gretchen loved her babies! Gretchen and Duane were going to Mexican cruise on March 13th 2016 to celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary. Gretchen earned the Nickname Momma Kitty due to the fact she was a very strong woman who survived 2 bouts of lung cancer, 11 emergency trips via ambulance and countless situations where her life was in jeopardy. Gretchen gave it all during her Mother In Law’s’ Rosemary Daniels medical situation in 2014. On December 28th 2014 at approximately 1:30pm Gretchen had a massive asthma attack. She was saved by the South Pierce County Fire Dept., 3 units responded and were able to save her life. Duane, Jessica and Erik were told at the hospital by the paramedics that she should not have made it. The Daniels Family will be forever grateful that we had the extra year. Gretchen beloved Wife/Best Friend, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend may you rest in peace. You never gave up and you fought to the end.
