March 22nd, 1927 - June 21st, 2016
Jean was born March 22, 1927, in Oak Park, IL to John and Jean (Murphy) Morrissey . She passed away June 21, 2016, in Tacoma, WA surrounded by members of her loving family. After graduating from high school, Jean attended college for two years. She married John Novosad on November 8, 1947, in Des Plaines, IL. They were married 54 years. Jean was actively involved in several Catholic parishes over the years since she traveled extensively with her husband who served in the US Air Force. She was a homemaker for many years and after raising 12 children, she was employed by the US Post Office. After her husbands death in 2001, Jean continued spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as welcoming her great grandchildren. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed her crossword puzzles.She is survived by her seven daughters; Sally Wagnon, Nancy Tanaka, Christine Novosad, Corrine Gunderson, Cindy Novosad, Elizabeth Eyler and Mary Goerdt; three sons, John Novosad, Jr., Mark Novosad and Dan Novosad; a sister, Joanne Hemmerling; two brothers, Joseph Morrissey and John Morrissey; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband John, her two sons Paul Novosad and Patrick Novosad; and her brother Jerry Morrissey.Jeans ashes will be placed next to her husbands during a service to be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042 on Tuesday, July 26th, 2016 at 2:45pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Franciscan Hospice, Tacoma, WA.
