Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place
Carole Ann Medeiros
August 4th, 1951 - April 17th, 2017
Carole Ann Medeiros nee Blinn died peacefully, attended by her eldest daughter and husband, on Monday 4/17 in Puyallup at the age of 65. Carole is survived by husband, Dan; children, Melissa McMeekin and Megan Quelvog; siblings, Lynnmary Grady of Pleasant Hill, CA, Eric Metzler of Oakley, CA, and Kris Metzler of Camp Verde, AZ. She is preceded in death by brothers Rick Metzler, Kevin Metzler, David Metzler and Gregory Blinn. Carole was born on 8/4/51 in Oakland, CA to Norman Wayne Blinn and Margaret Ann (Peggy) Blinn. She graduated from California State University at Hayward with a degree in history. She married Dan in 1972 in Fremont, CA. Always smitten with wanderlust, the couple moved a number of times over the next years, having their daughters in Stockton, CA and Arlington, WA. Caroles great love of family was evidenced by her lifelong passion for genealogy. A meticulous researcher, she travelled extensively to many of the locations of her ancestors, seeking original records, linking geography to history, understanding cultural and economic factors in the flow of people across time. Her family was often intrigued, amazed, and amused by her ability to bring her predecessors to life with her detailed stories of their lives. Because of Carole, they were alive again. Carole was also accomplished in needlework, blending her skills to create memory quilts for family members, along with the many other crocheted, cross-stitched, needle-pointed projects. Understanding the implications of the computer revolution, in the late 1980s Carole became adept at insurance accounting software, an industry she had been working in since the mid 1970s. Launching her own business eventually, and travelling 48 of the 50 states, she had a reputation for understanding the nuances of her particular field, and the quality of her work. Finally, using the internet, she was able to work from home for the final years of her career. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00pm 4/26/17 at the Old Town Music Society, in Tacoma, WA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Caroles life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Americanancestors.org - yellow donate tab on right, or to the Daughters of the American Revolution, of which Carole was a member, at DAR.org menu, give tab.
