Daniel Lee Smith
July 6th, 1957 - April 25th, 2006
Daniel Lee Smith, 48, a resident of Olympia, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday, April 25, 2006. He was born July 6, 1957 in Gilroy, California to Gailen P. and Patsy R. Smith. On June 10, 1977 he married Natalia Echeverria in Shelton. She survives him at the family home. Daniel worked for Vertecs doing drywall and taping. He was a member of the Painters and Allied Trades, Local Union #64 in Tacoma, Washington. He enjoyed playing ball with his grandkids, barbecues with his family and a good fishing trip. In addition to Natalia, he is survived by a son Daniel; daughters, Maria Poulos (Steve) and Patsy Hernandez (Abel); a brother David of Lacey; his parents, Gailen and Patsy Smith of Shelton; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Patsy wrote this poem for her dad My dad you do not know Someone caring, someone there… His kids, he helped in any way And his grandkids he played with every day. A sunny day he’ll be outside with his truck washing and drying. He’ll call us for a barbeque and have us eat it all. And send us home with all the leftovers. Our dad a good guy he was. Patsy Our Dad (Pops) was a kind hearted, loving son, husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandpa, uncle and friend. His favorite things were spending time with his 5 grandkids (all boys), barbeques with his family, and fishing with friends. While living in California his favorite thing to do was to take his family and friends camping at Pine Crest. Everyone that had the chance to meet him knew what a great and wonderful man he was. He always teased about two things that no one should ever mess with; one was his truck and the other was his wife, oh, and don’t forget his Coors light. We all loved him so very very much and will always keep him in our hearts and will forever remember the special memories. We love you always and we will see you again! ~
