July 26th, 1954 - April 29th, 2015
On April 29, 2015, Richard Alan Ford, passed away in Tacoma after a long and courageous battle with liver cancer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tessie Lee Brice, his father, Robert Lee Ford, his brother Robert Lee Ford Jr., and his sister Lana Ruth Wood. Richard was born July 26, 1954 in Atlanta Georgia. Richard is survived by his sister, Edith Marie Simpson who resides in Tacoma, his Brother in law and friend Robert X. Sayah Sr., His brother Rev. Johnny Lee Simpson, Sister in law Brenda Simpson who resides in Breman Georgia, sister in law Juanita Van Order and long time girlfriend Linda Brice He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Terrie Lynn, Rhonda, Saundra, Ricky, Bobby, Tony, Wayne, Phyllis, and Kimberly. Despite never having completed high school, Richard was a very smart man having earned his G.E.D. as well as various technical trade certifications. Richard has worked in Iraq operating and repairing heavy equipment. Prior to Iraq he has been a certified appliance technician, as an HVAC tech, Maintenance Supervisor for various large corporations. Manger/Maintenance Supervisor for a 350 unit apt community, as well as long haul truck driver and city bus driver. Richard was a loving and caring brother, uncle, and friend to all of us. He was always there to help in anyway he could for all of us with no expectations of anything in return. We were blessed to have had him in our family. The sun will never again shine as brightly with him gone. We love you with all our heart and soul.
