Delfa Snow
June 13th, 1930 - August 6th, 2012
None Delfa Ruth LLOYD SNOW Delfa, 82, of Roy, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, 6 Aug 2012. She was born 13 Jun 1930 (She joked about being born on Friday the 13th) in Preston, Idaho to Melvin Flonzo and Letha HOLLINGSWORTH LLOYD (both Deceased). She spent most of her childhood in start-up lumber camps in the Sierra and Calaveras Counties in California. A lot of that time they lived in tents, until homes were built. In 1938, Delfa was baptized into the LDS Church in Preston, Idaho. She was married on 12 Oct 1946 in Carson City, Nevada to Lawrence Jerome SNOW (Deceased) and soon had 2 children: Rodney A, now of Roy, and Diana J (Deceased). Delfa said that it would be good to have the children early so that she could grow up with them. She was a stay at home Mom until the late 60's. Lawrence and Delfa were divorced in 1963 and shortly after, her daughter, Diana, was killed in an automobile accident. Rodney was already out on his own so Delfa moved to Reno to be next to family and start work on her own. She was always close to her siblings but especially close to her sister, Verla. Previous to moving, Delfa, her sister, Verla, and sister in law, Yvonne, palled around and were called The Three Musketeers. They enjoyed going to the White Pines, California Lumber Museum together. She remained close to Verla even after moving away from California. Delfa was also very close to her mother, Letha, who lived with her until her death in 1991. Delfa spent most of her life in California and Nevada until she moved in with her son, Rodney, and daughter in law, Suzynne, in 2006. While living in Washington, she enjoyed shopping at the dollar store, eating out and going to Wal*Mart. Delfa was always on the lookout for a soft stuffed animal, seashells, polished rocks and horse, wolf, tiger (her sister Verla handcrafted a beautiful ceramic tiger for her) and rabbit trinkets. She also enjoyed eating ice cream, sherbet and a variety of candy. Delfa had a witty sense of humor, which she passed on to her son. After moving to Washington, she and rodney enjoyed sitting at the table and passing humorous witticisms to each other. Delfa also had a keen sense of style. Before going out, she would lay out her clothes and spend the time to ensure she was dressed in a matching outfit. She did not pass this trait on to her son. Although she spent her life as a recluse, Delfa knew how to love her family. When in town, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were often found visiting in her room, watching television with her or just chatting. Delfa would say, “When someone says 'I love you' I don't say 'I love you too' because the 'too' makes it sound like you are saying it offhandedly. I say 'And I love you.'” Delfa's favorite activities included watching crime programs, old TV shows and game shows, eating breakfast, shopping and telling stories. She also spent a lot of time working with magnets, coloring, creating collages and collecting baseball cards (with her sister Verla). Delfa loved Disney characters and animals and will be missed by all of us who loved her the most. She is survived by her Verla (John L) POWELL of Ione, California; son Rodney A (Suzynne R) Snow of Roy, Washington; her grandchildren Robert E Snow of Olympia; Delfa R Snow of Lake Stevens; Tawnya R and Jameson Pirnie of Nampa, Idaho; Chip D and Abigail Snow of University Place; Verla N Snow of Roy and Lars D Snow of Monroe; great-grandchildren Passion R Snow, Chelsea M Snow, Kirste R Snow, Michael A Konicek, William K Ecker, Sara K Pirnie, Kyla B Ecker, Aiden J Snow, Kable B Snow, Gavriella T Snow and Kevin C Graham; and great-great-grandchild Xander E Snow-Bach. She also has numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember h er. Delfa was predeceased by her father, Melvin Flonzo Lloyd, who passed on 05 Apr 1961 in San Andreas, California; her mother, Letha Hollingworth Lloyd who passed on 30 Jun 1991 in San Andreas, California; daughter Diana Jean Snow who passed on 11 Apr 1964 in Altaville, California; and brothers,Melvin Wayne LLOYD who passed on 14 Mar 2003 in Jackson, California, and Keith H LLOYD who passed in Jun 2009 in Reno, Nevada. No flowers, gifts or donations have been set up as Delfa wouldn't have wanted anyone to go to any trouble. A special Thank You goes out to the staff of St. Clare Hospital for taking such great care of Delfa during Her stay. Your support of Her and Her family was invaluable. We will miss our Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma and Friend. We know you loved us….And we love you.
