Eric Edward Conger
July 18th, 1950 - September 14th, 2012
Eric Edward Conger was born in Savannah, GA on July 18th, 1950 to Charles Edward Conger and Frances Bracwell. As a young man he served in the United States Army as a distinguished soldier earning 2 Purple Hearts and the Silver Star as well as many other medals while serving in Vietnam. While serving at various duty stations Eric liked to coach children on football , baseball, and basketball teams and taught them not only how to play the sport but how to play it honorably. While serving in the military and working with kids Eric realized another dream of his to write. He wrote the book The Fairy and The Princess and was working on the second book when he passed. After serving 20 years in the military Eric retired and then found another calling as a Boy Scout Ranger at Camp Kilworth in Federal Way, WA, earning the nick name of Ranger Bob. There he loved to be with the scouts of all ages, the volunteers who helped him cleanup the camp and the community who embraced him as one of their own. Eric would eventually retire from the camp and then ran the liquor store in Browns Point until the recently when he finally officially retired. It was a retirement that he did not get to enjoy as his life was ended to quickly by Liver Cancer. Eric was also a beloved husband and father. After several marriages Eric met his Wife Rene and they shared a 20 year love that held them through the death of Rene’s son Paul and the death of Eric’s mom and sister. Even through the rough times they were able to laugh with each other something they always did even when he was a bear. Eric has 7 surviving children 5 daughters and 2 sons ranging in ages from 41-16. HE prided himself in being a good father always being our cheerleader even when we thought he wasn’t. All of us have those special memories that he made with each one of us, whether it be fishing, teaching us to shoot, encouraging us in the arts, or to follow our dreams that we wanted to do we all have those special memories. On September 14th, 2012 Eric’s life came to an end surrounded by his children and his wife. He took his last breath and we were there to see it and to hear him utter his final word “Home”. He is home now with his mom Frances, sister Debbie, son Paul, and four grandchildren who went before him. You are forever in our hearts and of those whose lives you have touched. Rest In Peace Eric.
