Emily Ann Endicott

Emily Ann Endicott 1978-2011 Emily Ann died Saturday, August 13, at the home of her father and stepmother Jim Endicott and Renae Goldie. Jim, Renae and the love of Emily’s life, Matthew Bredeson, were her constant companions during her two year battle with breast cancer. Emily is also survived by her mother Sandra Defazio of Nevada, siblings Bryan German (Adelia) of Montana, Christopher Lauren (Jennifer) of Redmond, Sean German (Emily) of Seattle, and numerous family members and friends. The family wishes to extend their great appreciation to the outstanding support team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the radiation staff at Tacoma General, UW Medical Center, and the Harborview Gamma Knife Center, the rehabilitation staffs at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, and the very dedicated Lakewood Franciscan staff. Emily, the unofficial mascot of the Clover Park Kiwanis Club, was the recipient of the Bob Moawad Inspirational Award at the 2011 Lakewood Relay for Life in June. She was recently selected from 100 candidates to be the inspiration for a tee shirt designed for sale during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October at Ann Taylor Loft stores around the country. Emily was widely known and loved for her friendly, happy-go-lucky spirit, and her “two fists and a smile” attitude toward adversity. She never had to know someone very long before there was a mutual and positive relationship. Family friend Julie Hammontree described her perfectly: “The beauty of Emily, it seems to me, is that she leaves all of us wanting more, and the beauty of Emily’s loved ones is in loving her enough to let her go.” There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Emily on Sunday, September 11, at South Park Community Center in Tacoma from 3-7 PM. Donations may be sent in her memory to The Dream Foundation, (the first and largest wish-granting organization for adults with a life expectancy of one year or less), or CaringBridge (the personal and private website that connects people experiencing a significant health challenge to family and friends, making each health journey less difficult).
