HELEN M. (PFAFF) HAMANN Helen was born in Olympia on January 28, 1930 to Andrew Pfaff and Doris (Whipple) Pfaff Gleizes. She passed away on December 26, 2014 at the age of 84 at Mother Josephs Care Center in Olympia, WA. She was long time resident of Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School Class of 1948. Out of high school, she worked for the Boy Scouts of America and The Daily Olympian. For most of her career, she worked for Dr. William A. Ehlers as his office nurse, before taking an early retirement for health reasons. Helen LOVED her bowling. She bowled in Classy Seniors, Aztec Seniors and The Moose Bowling League. She was a past board member of the Olympia Women's Bowling Association, Secretary-Treasurer of Classy Seniors Bowling League, and former Secretary-Treasurer for Lacey Bowlettes at Lacey Lanes. She was a former member of Phi Sigma Alpha a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Her sorority sisters meant so very much to her throughout the years.. She also had a lot of fun with the Red Hat ladies toward the end of her life.. She was a long time volunteer for medical groups and The Olympia Women of the Moose Chapter 1422. She loved collecting bells and depression glass. She was an avid reader and rarely missed a chance to play bingo or go to a casino. She was an huge sports fan, never missing one of her children's games or helping cheer on the Mariners. She is survived by her daughters; Sher Pasinetti (John) of Puyallup, WA, Bonnie Sweeney of McCleary, WA and a son, Tracy Hamann (Sue) of Olalla, WA, grandchildren, Trevin Hamann of Olympia, WA, Tyson Vandver (Megan) of Spanaway, WA and Brooke Parkko of Puyallup, WA, plus three great-grandchildren; Kaydence Parkko, Kylie Vandver and Aiza Vandver. She is also survived by her brother Gerald (Jerry) Pfaff (Loa) of San Diego, CA and sisters; Laura Alverson (Ray) of Olympia, WA and Sandee Purvis (Rich) of Spokane, WA, sister-in-law Anne Pfaff of Olympia, WA and by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers George Pfaff and Jim Gleizes and grandson Donavynn Atkinson, all of Olympia. WA. MOM faced so many difficult challenges throughout her life. Her ability and willpower to try and rise above each new challenge was astounding. Mom's most valued legacy is the love that she showed her family. We always knew Mom loved and cared for us. THANK YOU MOM - WE LOVE YOU! Give us grateful hearts, O Lord, For food, for health, and friends; Be thou our guide in all that we do, And keep us to the end. Amen. (The Beta Sigma Phi Grace)
