Karen Rae Tellevik
November 22nd, 1936 - January 27th, 2009
Karen Rae Coglizer Tellevik Karen Rae Coglizer Tellevik was born November 22, 1936 to Evelyn and Orville Coglizer in Nebraska. She graduated from Kennewick High School in 1954. After attending secretarial school, she accepted a position with the local police department in a move that would change her life in all ways. It was here that she met her beloved husband of 52 years, George Tellevik. Karen married George in 1956. She enjoyed a life full of family, professional and social activities. Karen had many close friends, and while she would tolerate the occasional game of golf, and many sailing adventures with George, she was an avid bridge player, and walker. She loved her coffee group, reading, cooking, and as anyone who knew her will attest, she loved being able to stay home! She was a great entertainer, and enjoyed dinner parties and other gatherings with their friends. Her sharp wit, sense of humor, and keen intelligence, will be missed by all who loved her. In and amongst all of her life’s endeavors, Karen’s greatest efforts and involvement have always been for the care and support of her family. She made all things possible for her husband George and her two daughters. Her example of, discipline, courage, and fortitude have provided a guide to success for us all. She provided loving care to George during his 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. A seventeen-year breast cancer survivor, when it became clear four months ago that it had returned, the news was met with grief beyond words. She had just lost George ten days before the diagnosis. She fought this disease with valor and hope until the very end. She missed George deeply and on January 27, left this earth to join him. Karen is survived by her daughters, Teri Tellevik (Lilly), Kim Acuff (Kevin) and (Wes Stevenson); three grandchildren, Eliot Stevenson, Haley Stevenson, and Kilian Acuff; brother, Douglas Coglizer (Jude); nephew, Chris Coglizer (Karla); and cousin, Janet Heppell (Steve).
